Because Just Running Is Too Easy

The triathalon was invented in 1978 when a group of hardcore ex-service men that enjoyed swimming, cycling and running could not decided on which sport produced the best all-round athlete. They debated this issue over a few beers and decided to combine the three sports. They organized the first Triathalon and aptly named it The Ironman.

This was my first triathlon and I must admit that I was a little nervous. The chaos and ensuing turmoil of the first minutes of the swim leg that accompany a mass start took me by suprise. However, after a few minutes, I settled down and the hours of training / practice took over and was able to actually enjoy the race.

This was my first Olympic-Distance Triathalon. It was advertised as a beginner friendly event, which sounded great. Turns out this was the South-Eastern Regional Championship Race.
