Dad and I did the 2005 Bicycle Ride Across Georgia. The 435 mile route went from Columbus to Jekyll Island, Georgia. The first two days were full of brutal climbs, the next two days were rolling hills, and the final two days were mostly flat. As expected whenever we get together for a bike ride, there was a torrential downpour. |
So, maybe I did not completely understand the idea of a leisurely tour!
Day One: 35 miles through a downpour! |
We just finished riding 85 miles (all of which seemed uphill) in extremely hot and humid conditions. As Dad said, "It is so hot that if the forest caught on fire, it would only burn in the shade! |
A cool front came through and dropped the temperature into the low 80s and it felt great. Dad and I decided to start easy and then back-off.

Six days, 435 miles, and hours of quality time later, Dad and I arrived at Jekyll Island, Georgia.
