Wildlife Interaction

Jenn and I are smiling and waiting for our camera's self-timer to take the picture. Meanwhile the mosquitos are actually devouring Jenn (I even overhead a couple of the mosquitos discussing whether they should take us back to share with the rest of the pack or eat us on the spot!

Vachel Lindsay

I found a little turtle
He was swimming by the dock
He swam in the water
He climbed up the rock.

He snapped at a mosquito
He snapped at a flea
He snapped at a minnow
and he snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He event caught the minnow,
but he didn't catch me!

Food & Water Stop

With plenty of ice-cold water and an assortment of Power Bars, you can forget the rest of the food pyramid. However, you should definitely pre-chill your Power Bars and put them against the cold Camel Back during the ride. Warm water is one thing, but a hot Power Bar is completely disgusting.

Yum!

and ride through the pain suggestion
Suck-It-Up, we are only 1/2 way! What did you say? You are not funny
I think I can!   I think I can!   I THINK I CAN!
Done. Finally!

The temperature was 80° at sunrise and quickly climbed into the high 90's (nevermind the humidity) and Jenn's saddle problems added to the difficulties, but we did 65 miles and now we're headed for food and then on to Stoker pampering..
