Grand Canyon - South Rim
The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is often described as Earth's greatest geological showcase. Nowhere else features such a dazzling variety of colorful rock layers, impressive buttes, shadowed side canyons, and overall size.

The Grand Canyon is the canyon against which all other canyons are compared.

Soak It In

Initially, I was disappointed - Yep, looks just like the pictures. However, after getting away from the crowded viewing stations and finding somewhere to sit alone and soak it all in, I realized just how impressive it is. Watch the light and shadows bring the canyon walls alive, feel the sun and wind on your face, listen to the canyon while you think of the forces and time required to create this scenery.

Star Gaze

One of my favorite things while in the Grand Canyon was checking out the stars. I highly recommend camping out and spending the evening looking at the night sky. It was amazing!

Tip: Use your binoculars.

Visit This Park!

Although I was initially disappointed, I would still recommend visting the Grand Canyon. You will have to make an effort to avoid crowds, but it is worth it. The view of the night sky seals the deal!
